Arts and Crafts
Moon Phases This craft activity provides 5 to 7 images of the moon on a variety of dates. You will print, cut out, tape and overlap the images to study various phases of the moon.
Moon Mosaic This craft activity provides 18 images of the moon taken on September 21, 1996. You may print, cut out, overlap and tape together these images (with a few parts missing) to form a poster size image of the waxing gibbous moon. You can open a single web page which displays all 18 images in full size to make printing the full set easier. A more compact version of the same set is also available.
Terminator This craft activity provides 8 sets of images to print, cut out, tape and overlap. The resulting mosaic shows the day/night edge of the moon on July 16, 1998, when the moon was near third quarter phase.

Image Processing
Moon Measures For this activity you need Hands-On Universe (HOU) image processing software on your computer. You will open moon images. You will vary the contrast of the images and perhaps change color palettes. You will use a slice tool to measure craters. Using ratios and a calculator in hand or on the computer, you will determine distances across moon craters.
