Let's work on the Sky Search Badge!  Here are some activities that will help you to complete some of the badge requirements!

Earth's Moon  Take a look at our own moon and learn about its geography.  This will help complete activity 11 of the Sky Search badge.

Star Finder  This activity will help you learn how to find constellations in the night sky by using a star map.  You will be able to complete activities 1,3, 4, and 7 of the sky search badge.

Constellations  Take a look at different constellations photographs. This section will help complete activities 1,3, 4, and 7  of the sky search badge.

Star Brightness   Learn how scientists determine the brightness of stars using image processing.  Also learn the relation of star brightness to star magnitude by looking at the stars of the Pleiades.  You will be working on activity 6 of the sky search badge.

Star Color   Learn how scientists discover the color of stars by looking at the Orion Nebula and using image processing.  Learn why color can be a temperature indicator of the stars.  Also learn how to make your own "star" color filters and why they work.  This activity will help complete activity 6 of the sky search badge.

Planets   Look at images of planets taken by CCD cameras attached to telescopes in different areas of the country.  Can you see which object is the planet in the images? This activity will help you complete activity 8 of the sky search badge.

Asteroids  Find Asteroids by investigating and adding images that were taken 15 minutes apart. Asteroids are part of our Solar System, orbit the Sun, and change position as compared to the background stars.

Nametags    Make nametags for your Girl Scout troop!
