Middle School Activities
from TERC, 1999

These curriculum units use the Hands-On Universe images and software to introduce middle school students (and teachers) to the wonders of the Universe. The activities have been developed with the intent of addressing specific national science education content standards such as:
  • Exploring our Solar System
  • Appropriate Use of Technology
  • Systems and Cycles
  • Exploring our place in the Universe
  • Measurement and Modeling
  • Evidence and Explanation

A Tour of the Solar Sytem A look at a selection of objects in our Solar System and introduction to using the HOU-IP software.
The Observable Night Sky A set of activities to familarize students with observing constellations, stars, and other astronomical objects.
Snapshots in Time Studying the changes in the night sky over days, years, centuries, and the lifetime of the universe.
