HOU began with teachers and students dialing up the HOU computer over toll-free phone lines and using MS-Kermit to download images and use e-mail accounts. In the past year several of the HOU pilot schools have obtained Internet access either directly or through a local provider. HOU WWW pages are now the primary interface between HOU students and the image request and retrieval system. The WWW provides a much cleaner and more efficient mode of requesting and downloading images, as well as providing observatory weather information, a forum for student reports and Q&A sessions.
