Further Development of HOU

In addition to widespread implementation of the high school program, HOU is currently working under a grant from the National Science Foundation to develop educational materials for use in informal science education (ISE) centers, including museums, science camps and community centers. These materials focus on themes that incorporate astronomy through various cultures and also serve a large range of academic backgrounds and age groups. The ISE materials are geared toward ongoing workshops within the centers or drop-in labs. In addition, the Boston Museum of Science is introducing a museum exhibit they have developed along with HOU. This exhibit will serve as a prototype for exhibits to be developed by other museums and planetaria around the world.

HOU is also beginning development on protoype middle school activities and is seeking funds to develop a full-scale middle school curriculum.
